Got a small yacht to get a bit of stress relief, so when things get a bit on top of me I can escape.

Since this photo was taken the yacht is now afloat and being used as a place of stress relief and a way of getting my hand back into sailing again.



This is the yacht on its launch day and on to its temporary mooring while we get the yacht ready to sail up the coast to her new mooring in Walton on the Naze 



This is her afloat for the first time in five years after the last owner passed away and his children wish the yacht to go to a new home and be enjoyed again by someone who would look after her once more.

The good part about the old fuel filter system on Chance is that it is a non disposable system, so it just needs cleaning at regular intervals to keep it working  Although there are a number of parts to the filter system it is straightforward and easy to dismantle and rebuild when it needs cleaning to maintain the engines   Just need a couple of parts replacing as they are worn out, apart from that the system is ready to be reused again for another 70 years or more

How thing change especially the weather. Time to work on parts in the workshop.

 It is at this time of the year, we think about moving into the workshop to do jobs that were put to one side while working on Chance. Although not a lot was done on Chance one way or another there were some jobs done on her this year. We did get the rudder out of the boat although in three parts otherwise, it would have meant digging a six foot hole under the back of Chance to get the rudder out of Chance in one piece. We are now in the early stages of making a new design to make it possible to make it possible to remove the rudder blade as a separate part from the rest or the steering gear So making it possible the rudder without messing about with the major part of the steering in the future. This will also help with replacing the hog / keel at the back of the boat where a lot of damage and rot as happened in one way or another. The work this week on the Dickinson Diesel Stove

The restoration of the cooker is well underway, I am now in the process of ordering some new parts for the cooker. After the years of neglect it is not surprising that there are a few parts that have since better days and need replacing. The major items that need replacing are the super heater element in the burner, The super heater element which as seen better days   The draft fan and its controller and a piece of firebrick that needs renewing which is broken.
