Sorting out the jigsaw puzzle, some are taking more to sort out than others

These bits are the two parts of the original galley top and two of the sides  



The two sides of the corner of the galley unit which go up against the galley to main cabin door 



The two doors that go under the long side of the main cabin settee unit, the framework is not in as good a condition as the doors so a new framework will have to be made to set these doors back in when the settee framework is rebuild


The cockpit chart table and drawer unit below to store the charts and other navigation equipment in while on passage 



In this photo two parts of the cupboard front from under the sink on the starboard side of the galley area



The surviving part of the bunk front of the main cabin settee, this will have to be replaced when making a new bunk front and set the two original doors back in place 



The starboard work top which all the other lockers were fitted too. The main problem is that it is not the original length as the front end was cut short to fit the diesel cooker in the main cabin and in doing so destroyed a drinks cabinet and other lockers which were originally in the area. One of the major jobs during the restoration is to put back the original configuration of the starboard part of the main cabin  



A pile of parts that I have yet to sort out and sort out which bits can be reused or new parts made.

Chance like a lot of James Silver / John Bain designed boats at the time Chance was build, they were twin screw single rudder designed.  The stern gear glands were of white metal and were very close fitting glands The original propellers that were fitted when Chance was originally launched in 1948 The original manufacturer of the propeller can be seen as Thornycroft   On this photo is can be seen that the diameter is 17 1/2 " x 12 1/2" These propeller shafts will have to be removed as there is work to be done on the stern tubes and the bearing changed to modern stern gear when Chance is re-engineered

Engine filters from 70 years ago, all the parts can be washed and refitted non disposable parts, so no land fill

The good part about the old fuel filter system on Chance is that it is a non disposable system, so it just needs cleaning at regular intervals to keep it working  Although there are a number of parts to the filter system it is straightforward and easy to dismantle and rebuild when it needs cleaning to maintain the engines   Just need a couple of parts replacing as they are worn out, apart from that the system is ready to be reused again for another 70 years or more

A big shout out for a cover to put over Chance so we can get on with the restoration of Chance.

 At the moment we are in this position with Chance, We have a large poly sheet over Chance which keeps getting blown off as we can not fix it down very well and is a thankless task having to keep pulling over the boat until the next major gale of strong wind decides to remove the cover again.  That's the position at the moment, what we are looking for is a shed/workshop like the one over Helen Wycherley Heritage Restoration project in Whitby North Yorkshire. This type of shed/ workshop would do our restoration project a world of good and make possible for us to get on with our restoration of Chance.    So if anyone out there can put us in contact with anyone who wishes to move on their poly tunnel shed/ workshop, please get in contact with us through our social media channels.
